Ohiaba School Gardening Season is Here!
It’s about that time, and Nuhu and the children of Ohiaba are preparing the school grounds for planting. Essiam Nuhu Lawrence, Gardner and Horticulturist for Ohiaba School are collectively getting those green thumbs together. This time, Ohiaba’s school garden project is going to be even larger then it was the year before!
Community Resources
Ever since the community at the new Ohiaba Village has been established, Nuhu has been instrumental in assisting various community groups and members with their organic gardens.
Community Education
Nuhu’s garden list has helped several station their organic garden schemes, as well as partnering projects in neighboring communities.

Leadership comes with a lot of responsibility
Incoming seniors of the JHS like Josephine are gearing up for this summer’s garden mission and keeping her team together. Due to the fact that Ohiaba has some pretty fertile grounds and a very active rainy season, things can change rapidly. So, continuous weeding efforts are made to prevent chocking of the essential crop products. As with any plant life species that grows out of control, attempts to root out and tame can become a task all its own but Ohiaba’s Mafra steps up to the challenge every time.

This work is not for the faint of heart and due to the nature of clearing at times, one may come upon an indigenous plant species that requires extra caution. This is why protective clothing is essential when operating in some areas.
